Bikes selling like hotcakes

Four bikes sold in just over a week. Seems like craigslist is definitely the way for me to be selling. This is very encouraging.

Cyclocross anyone?

I'm planning on going to the Vertical Earth Cyclocross Practice Series this Wednesday in Coeur d'Alene. Clinic starts at 5pm, races at 6pm. Haven't decided if I'm racing yet. Anyone care to join me?

Earn A Bike victory

We finally have our first Earn A Bike finisher. The young man put in 10 hours of time in the shop and is now fixing up the BMX bicycle he picked out of our stable. As soon as that is finished, he'll ride out of here with a helmet and lock as well. Congratulations!

Bikes for Sale

We have lots of bikes for sale right now. I know it's the end of the season, but there is still some great riding to be had. I'll post some photos soon.

Cool Water Bikes is a TV star!

I was up at 3:40 this morning to go into CWB to be interviewed on the KXLY morning news. They did 4 spots between 5am and 7:30am. I'm pretty tired right now, but it was good. If you missed it, they have one of the spots on their website: kxly.com
Here it is:

Also, they're supposed to air a summary story this evening on the 5pm news broadcast. We've had a couple of phone calls based on it already. Hopefully it generates good interest.

Need space

For the last year, Cool Water Bikes has been operating in the drop-in center of Cup of Cool Water. It has been great, but cramped. Also, it's rather difficult to tell the general public about our strange hours. We can't be open while drop-in is going on. So we really want another location to move the shop to. Our best lead just fell through. The other tricky part is we don't really have any money for rent. So unless someone drops off a big wad of cash, we're hoping to find a property owner who would be willing to donate the space to us. Ideally it would be within walking distance of downtown, but we'll consider other locations as well (I'm leaving that vague because I still don't know where the best location is). We need space for retail, service, and storage (2000-4000 square feet?). Give me a call if you know of anything.

Framesets for Sale

Two framesets available right now.

Sold! $75 - 56cm (center-to-center) Jeunet Franche-Comte road bike frame. This would make a really cool looking fixed gear or full road bike. I'm guessing it's from late 60s/early 70s. Made in France. Paint is pretty severely pitted, but I wouldn't dare repaint it. Chrome fork and partial chrome rear stays. French threaded cotter BB included if you want it.

$200 - Redline Conquest Disc-R Frameset with original headset and seatpost (no seatpost clamp). Good condition, regular wear on paint, one large wear spot on headtube from front brake housing. I believe it is a 2004 model. Measures 61cm center to top, pretty large for a cyclocross bike.

Welcome

Cool Water Bikes is a division of Cup of Cool Water, a Christian ministry in Spokane, WA working alongside homeless youth, seeking to empower them to become wholehearted followers of Christ and to exit street life. Specifically Cool Water Bikes uses bicycles as a catalyst to building relationships. As we ride and fix bikes, we get the chance to talk about life and faith. Plus, they get the chance to learn practical and life skills that will serve them well in whatever path they choose to follow in this world.
To accomplish this, we need help in many ways. You can donate bikes and parts that we can refurbish and sell or make available for the youth to earn. You can buy bikes or parts to help finance our work. You can donate money and other resources to supplement our sales. You can join us as a volunteer working either directly with youth or behind the scenes.
This blog will be a place to share some of the work we see God doing here on the streets of Spokane as well as to post some of the bikes we have for sale. Check back here to see what's going on. For more info, check out our website: www.coolwaterbikes.org.
